Climatological characteristics of China-influencing tropical cyclones (CITCs) are analyzed in this paper with main characteristics as follows. (1) The frequency of the CITC shows a decreasing trend during 1951-2005, especially after the late 1960s, and the past 10 years have the minimum frequency over this period (nearly 55 years). The CITC is active from May to November, especially from July to September. (2) CITCs have three main sources of location, which are marked by clear decadal and seasonal changes. (3) The paths of CITCs are characterized by different seasonalities. (4) The effect of CITCs lasts about 5.6 months and shows a decreasing trend over the period. (5) The frequency of CITC influences shows a zonal distribution, decreasing from the southeast coast to the northwest inland.
